IECA PRIVACY NOTICE

IECA respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its website. IECA strongly believes that if online activities are to flourish, members, admission professionals and consumers must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect your privacy, IECA has implemented the following policy.

Collected Information
Most data IECA collects is used only to help us better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. If our privacy policies change, we will notify all users by email or a special announcement placed on the website.

From General Users. IECA does not collect any personal information from users browsing its website. Only aggregate data—such as the number of hits per page—are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

From IECA’s Members, Applicants, Conference and Event Registrants, and Other Consumers. To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on IECAonline.com, members are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. IECA asks users to provide their name, organization name, business phone, and email. Similar information may be submitted to IECA through membership applications, conference or event registration, and publication orders. Additionally, for some emails sent in HTML format by IECA to its members through its TalkList and electronic news, we will collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, IECA may monitor only in aggregate whether a recipient opens the email, subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message.  IECA only uses this information to enhance its communication to its members and potential participants in IECA sponsored events. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.

How Does IECA Use Data Collected?
IECA uses information voluntarily submitted by members and others in the following ways:

IECA Member Services and Products. Generally, IECA uses data collected to improve its own web content; to respond to visitors’ interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services.

Disclosures to Third Parties. IECA also makes member contact information and photos available through the print and/or online Membership Directory to other members, admission professionals and the public at large. On occasion, IECA may also provide limited data to schools, colleges, program, and service companies that offer information, products and services. These limited data include names, job titles, companies and business addresses, and sometimes email addresses. For conference registrants, names, organizations, locations (city/state/country) and business phone numbers, are published in the conference guide. Members and conference registrants may request IECA refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties on their membership application or renewal forms, conference registration form, or any other form on which they are providing information; an opt-in/out box will appear on each form on which a member or participant provides information. Alternatively, they may contact IECA at 703-591-4850 or [email protected]  to express their preferences if they determine later that they do not wish to have the information shared.

Consent to Use Third Party Contractors. For the purposes of domestic and international data protection laws, IECA or its contractors must store, host and otherwise process the information (including personal data) supplied by members in accordance with established policies. If you reside in the European Union, we will request a signature indicating your consent that the personal information you have provided may be transferred and stored in countries outside of the EU, including the United States.

Credit Card Account Information. IECA does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, IECA submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate processor. We store this information only when necessary and only as long as the information is required for active use.
